Ok so: who from uk2 would you cast in which role in Six?
I’m not even going to lie to you, the amount that I’ve thought about this is honestly embarrassing. Not putting this under a cut because it's art and you all deserve to see it XOXO
Aragon: Tayce. I don't know why but the two just click for me. Tayce is confident, she's not afraid to speak up, I imagine she can be quite feisty sometimes which is what No Way screams to me. But at the same time we know she can give us vulnerability (citing the memory lipsync) which is why I think she'd be a good Aragon. She can also deliver with the dramatics needed for some of Aragon's lines: everything she said in Beastenders was fantastic and you can't tell me she wouldn't do the monologue absolute justice. However I also think that Tia would be an amazing Aragon
Boleyn: Boleyn is my absolute favourite role in Six. Total dream role for me, I’m obsessed with Anne Boleyn, so I’ve thought a lot about this. My initial thought is Veronica. Green, she’s done her before (and done a fantastic job may I add), and I feel like it just makes sense in my mind. HOWEVER, we mustn’t forget Bimini’s iconic promo look being a reference to the most well known portrait of Anne Boleyn. Also, with Bimini’s accent I feel like it matches well with Millie's (who used to play Boleyn on West End) and also with Christina Modestou’s voice (who is the voice of Boleyn on the cast recordings). So to conclude, I think we'll go with Veronica Boleyn and Bimini swinging the role
Seymour: Listen, yous can disagree with me on this and I highly encourage it because I am not sure of myself BUT I'm leaning towards Cherry for this role. I'm obsessed with a dark haired Seymour but also Cherry looks so good as a blonde and I can't totally explain this one, but I think that Cherry would kill Heart of Stone. Just a vibe. Veronica is a contender too because with her voice I know she could do this song absolute justice and more, so maybe she can swing the role upon occasion
Cleves: Asttina. This is one that I won't allow you to fight me on because I'm simply correct with this. Imagine Asttina doing Get Down? No, just take a few moments to imagine it and let yourself live in a world where that exists for just a few minutes. Do you have goosebumps? I know I do. BUT ALSO this is Tia's go to role. If you haven't watched the video of Boleyn Veronica then go back and click because it also includes Cleves Tia and she is just *chefs kiss* I genuinely can't choose between the two of them for this role, so they can both have it and to hell with the logistics x
Howard: Ellie. That's it. Ellie. She's young, she's bubbly, the costume would be beyond gorgeous on her. I think she would do so well as Howard, I know Ellie doesn't tend to do too many emotional lipsyncs and everything but I think she would be brilliant in subtly disguising the sadness of Howard's song/story into her personality, and the audience would walk away still thinking about it and thinking about the way that Howard continues to be portrayed in our media (All that being said, the line "I think we can all agree, I'm a 10 amongst these 3s" is so A'whora that it hurts)
Parr: Sister. Hear me out on this one. I feel like Sister is just constantly sick of everyone's shit ("But why should that story be the one I have to sing about just to win? I'm out"), very smart, and generally has a vibe of Parr to her. I also would love to see Parr played as a bit bored of the whole thing throughout and just generally detached and apathetic to the whole Six Wives of Henry VIII thing, I think that would be a really interesting take for her and I would like to see it

Day 2, Results
Tumblr media
Really, Henry thought, this Lady really could have put in a bit more effort in trying to win me over...
Again, borrowing *stealing* from @winterinverona‘s Get Thee a Good Husband, scoring for day 2 is as follows:
Lifetime Relationship + (Daily Relationship x 0.5) + (Number of Bolts x 3) + (Successful Flirts x 5) + 5 Points for Crush OR 10 Points for Love
Tumblr media
1. Bessie Blount: 47 + 0.5(100) + 3(2) + 5(5) + 5 = 133 points
2. Ann of Cleves: 47 + 0.5 (100) + 3(1) + 5(5) + 5 = 130 points
3. Katherine Parr: 42 + 0.5(93) + 3(2) + 5(5) + 5 - 124.5 points
4. Anne Boleyn: 41 + 0.5(91) + 3(1) + 5(4) + 5 = 114.5 points
5. Jane Seymour: 36 + 0.5(36) + 3(1) + 5(1) = 94 points
6. Catherine of Aragon: 25 +0.5(25) + 3(1) + 5(1) = 66.5 points
Tumblr media
Although she does make a significant improvement of day one, in the end Catherine of Aragon just doesn’t cut it... And she’s lucky Henry doesn’t cut her head off!
Tumblr media
Catherine: You can’t kick me out!  I am Catalina, Princess of Simspain!  I was born to be Queen of Simland!
Tumblr media
Catherine: Only kidding... I can’t wait to be out of this dump...
Tumblr media
Catherine: Pig!
And day 3 will be up soon!

Out of curiousity (and not wanting to lengthen the other post) What makes you consider Weir a bad historian? I always felt like that but I am wondering why others too
Well, I’ve only ever read one thing written by Alison Weir (her biography of Elizabeth of York) and if anyone wants to add to the discussion they are welcomed to do it, but from what I’ve seen regarding her other books as well is that they are poorly sourced. They are poorly sourced, and she makes such assumptions based on scant evidence that she chooses to focus on to a ridiculous degree for some reason, that her books read more like fiction than serious, historical research. Her fiction books are something else too: she has recently written that Anne of Cleves had a bastard child before marrying Henry VIII (because of… stretch marks?) and this was a reason why he divorced her, and it seems her portrayal of Anne Boleyn in her book A King’s Obsession was also wildly offensive. I talk more about her biography of Elizabeth of York under the cut.
Alison Weir thrives on sensationalised history, that’s the truth. She’s partially responsible for popularising the myth that Richard III and Elizabeth of York had a romantic, carnal relationship (gross!) in her biography because she chose to interpret a possible letter from Elizabeth to her uncle as a romantic one, even though there are only surviving fragments of said letter. In a 2013 interview she admits that:
“I don’t take that view nowadays … on reflection I think they mean something else entirely …  it would not surprise me if his relations with his niece have been sensationalised. For which I fear I must bear some of the blame!”
We all know Gregory’s The White Queen is out there to prove that the damage has been done even though Weir herself nowadays doesn’t believe in that theory – and not only in fiction, I’d say! Recently I was reading an excellent biography of Margaret Beaufort and the author also said that Elizabeth of York may have “harboured romantic feelings towards her uncle” and her source was none other than Alison Weir! I wanted to weep and puke at the same time.
As Weir herself claims in her interview, the words saying that Elizabeth was the king’s ‘in body’ had never appeared before in other versions of the letter, and even if was the case, medieval people had a very different way to express themselves that would suggest to a modern reader an erotic level even in the case of friendships or religious worship. The following letter is an example offered in the book Sexuality in Medieval Europe: Doing Unto Others by Ruth Karras. It’s from the priest Alcuin to the emperor Charlemagne, in which Karras has omitted the word ‘sacred’ to make this point:
Tumblr media
Alcuin was tutor to Charlemagne himself, his sons and other young men sent to court, and he is considered by many to be the most important scholar of the Carolingian renaissance. Many authors have also pointed the homo-erotic (or plainly erotic) language he used in his letters. Karras goes on to say:
While for us the erotic equates with the carnal, for many medieval thinkers the erotic, to the extent it overlapped with the spiritual, was opposed to the carnal. Bernard of Clairvaux, for example, who wrote a series of sermons on the Song of Songs in which he imagined kissing Christ on the mouth and something even more holy, “that most intimate kiss of all, a mystery of supreme generosity and ineffable sweetness,” would have wanted to make a sharp distinction between his spiritual understanding of this action and a carnal understanding that would equate it with erotic activity between men, or between men and women.
It seems to me that Weir wants to be a ‘popular’ historian and so she chooses to support the views that will offer her ample chances for scandal. Because of that letter and of a poem called The Most Pleasant Song of Lady Bessy (which is a largely fictionalised account of Elizabeth of York’s efforts to woo support to Henry Tudor before Bosworth) she claims that Elizabeth was an ambitious, I’ll-do-what-it-takes-to-be-queen type of woman and worse, that she only became demure and gentle and the Elizabeth of York that is traditionally known in history after she fell in love with Henry VII. How, you ask me? Because Henry played on her affections to make her what he wanted her to be. And on what grounds does she make that claim? None. She just says that in her biography as if it’s something backed by sources and not her own opinion. It’s beyond absurd, really.
So that’s why I don’t take Alison Weir as a serious historian, but from what I’ve seen many others here don’t either. I hope this answer helped you x

UM EXCUSE ME HOW DARE YOU LEAVE IT OFF LIKE THAT
Bessie and Anna are adorable
I decided to write something about Bessie hearing hearing one of her old nicknames and if accidentally turned into Banna. I wrote this on my phone which I never do and haven’t edited because I’m tired and it was just a quick idea I had. Anyway I’m sorry for the rambling and I hope you enjoy the story.
TW: mentions of child grooming, panic attack, disassociating
The theatre had been a chaotic place to begin with but with the kids back it had become almost dangerous. Toys left lying around backstage and in the dressing rooms made for some pretty serious trip hazards.
On top of toys and shoes there was also the danger of tripping over one of the kids.
“Hey!” Mary yelled from one of the dressing rooms, “Give me back my hairbrush!” The queens warm up was interrupted when Elizabeth ran on to stage clutching Mary’s brush.
“You two are gonna be the death of me.” Aragon sighed.
“Can you stop taking my stuff?” Mary asked when she ran on stage.
“I could.” Elizabeth shrugged. “But I’m bored and your face gets red when you’re angry so no.”
“Yep, that ones definitely Anne’s.” Joan jokes from where she was seated at her keyboard.
“Just give it back.” Mary held her hand out for the brush but her sister ducked behind Kathrine who was clearly trying not to laugh. “I swear to god, Lizzie-“ Mary was cut off by a loud crash from behind her.
Bessie, who had been doing her best to ignore the whole ordeal, had dropped her bass. Everyone turned to see that woman seemed to be suddenly paler than usual.
“Mum, what’s happening?” Mary asked, not taking her eyes off the bassist.
“I don’t-“ Aragon froze when she realised what must have happened, “Anna I’m gonna need your help with this one, everyone else go upstairs.” Mary and Elizabeth exchanged a confused glance but allowed themselves to be ushered upstairs and into one of the dressing rooms.
“What’s going on?” Anna asked, her panic obvious in her voice. She had seen her girlfriend disassociate before but never this quickly.
“The nickname Mary used for Elizabeth.” Aragon said quietly. “Henry used it to groom Bessie when she was a kid.”
“Holy shit.” Anna’s eyes grew wide.
“Bessie?” Catherine focused her attention on Bessie now. “Bessie, can you hear me? It’s me, Catherine. You’re alright. You’re safe here.” Bessie’s head snapped in Catherine’s direction but she didn’t see her. Her eyes were glazed over and she her face was an expression of pure terror.
“Please, Lady Catalina. I tried to stop him. I promise I-“ Bessie began shaking her head as if trying to dislodge the memories.
“Anna, I don’t think I can get through to her.” Aragon told the German queen.
“Alright. I’ll do my best.” Anna took a few steps towards Bessie, stopping the moment she flinches away.
“Lady Catalina, I swear-“
“Shhh, Bessie, it’s me. It’s Anna.” Anna thought she saw the slightest flicker of recognition in Bessie’s eyes.
“Anna?” Bessie asked uncertainly.
“Yeah, it’s just me.” Bessie nodded slowly before reach behind her. “Bessie? What-“ Anna stoped when she heard the sound of a zipper.

Candy Crush by n0t_bess1e_b4ss_0n_the_b4ss
Anna has a huge crush on the cute girl who works at the local sweet shop in London. Unfortunately, the girl is an oblivious, shy mess, but that just makes her fall even harder.
How To Be A Useless Bisexual: A Biography By Bessie Bass by n0t_bess1e_b4ss_0n_the_b4ss
Bessie Blount does NOT have a crush on Anna of Cleves. But Anna certainly does
